Author William’s nonfiction books are based on the environmental theme and are set around the Pacific West. He is particularly well known for writing the Ethan Gage series of novels. Author William began his writing career in the 1992 and became a published novelist with the release of his debut book titled The Final Forest. It was actually a nonfiction book. The first fiction novel written by him was Ice Reich. It was released in the year 1998. Other than being an author, he has also tried his hand at journalism and teaching as a college professor. Several of his books have hit the bestseller lists, which helped him to become a noteworthy author. The Ethan Gage series in particular, which is set at the time of the Napoleonic wars, has been sold in more than 28 foreign languages all across the globe. Author William was born on September 29, 1951, in Tacoma, Washington, The United States as William Alan Dietrich. He completed his academic studies from the Fairhaven College at the Western Washington University and graduated with a journalism degree. After that, he worked for a few newspapers in the Pacific Northwest as well as for the Gannett News agency. When he was working for The Seattle Times, he got the opportunity to cover the Exxon Valdez incident in 1989 which caused oil spill in the Alaskan waters.
