The talented author was born in Southend, Essex, and lived here for a good part of his life. His life in Southend meant that he lived around crime hence his reason for focusing in this area. After graduating, Carter worked in several jobs in different industries before moving to North Cornwall and focusing his efforts on writing. Carter enjoys spending time with his wife, who is also a writer and his two young children.
