Shannon Drake
Shannon Drake is the pen name used by a bestselling American author named Heather Graham Pozzessere. She is famous for writing romance, paranormal, mystery, historical fiction, thriller, and contemporary novels. Besides using the pseudonym, Shannon also makes use of her original name and her maiden name Heather Graham for writing different genres of novels. Author Drake has written more than 150 books and novellas altogether. Her books have been released in as many as 25 languages throughout the world, and have been printed in over 75 million copies. Author Drake was born on March 15, 1953 in Dade County, Florida, United States. She spent her earlier days growing up in the Miami-Dade County. Shortly after the completion of her high school studies, author Drake was married to Dennis Pozzessere. After her graduation from high school and her marriage, she enrolled herself at the South Florida University and obtained a degree in the theater arts. For a few years after that, Drake worked in a dinner theater. She was even involved in bartending and singing vocals as a backup. When author Drake’s third child was born, she decided that she could no longer go out to work. Hence, she began staying at home and looking after the upbringing of her children. In order to keep herself busy during the idle times, Drake began writing horror and romance stories. Subsequently, she was able to finish and sell her first novel in 1982, called When Next We Love. In the years that followed, author Drake penned over 100 novels & novellas. Most of these novels were primarily romance stories. Drake even tried her hand at historical fiction, romantic suspense, time travel, mystery, etc. Author Drake has been the launch novelist for the Silhouette’s Shadows line, the Mira Books of the mainstream brand of Harlequin, and the Ecstasy Supreme Line by Dell. Drake was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the RWA in 2003. She is an active member of numerous writers’ groups, including International Thriller Writers, MWA, Novelists Inc., etc. Drake has formerly served as the Vice President of the Horror Writers Association. She has received the Silver Bullet from the Thriller Writer for her charitable enterprises. Author Drake founded RWA’s Florida chapter.
