Robert Beatty
1963
Robert Beatty is an American author famed for his children’s novel, entitled Serafina and the Black Cloak which immediately found its way into the New York Times’ Best Sellers in its first week of launch, and held its position for 20 more weeks. Though now devoted to writing full-time, Robert Beatty was previously an Entrepreneur and technological pioneer, having been one of the forerunners of cloud computing. This led to his founding of the information technology firm, Plex Systems, and co-founding of Beatty Robotics. Aside from that, he is also the CTO and chairman of Narrative Magazine, an online literature periodical. When asked about where he got the idea for the Serafina book series, he simply said that Serafina’s story was born of his desire to tell his daughters a tale about a heroic, albeit quirky, young girl.
