Paradisi Chronicles
With approximately fourteen authors so far undertaking the science-fiction saga ‘The Paradisi Chronicles’, this series is no small undertaking. Each author brings something different to the table as well, as they all manage to inject some of their own personality into the series, making it one of the most diverse sagas to date. Not only that, but all of them have made their own name in the world of publishing, having previously published works in the field prior to this series. This means that it is one of the most concise series of its kind, allowing each of them to build upon the initial premise, taking it in new and exciting directions. One of the most interesting aspects about this particular series though, is that of the open-source nature of its universe. What this means is that it’s free for anyone to submit their own work to, as it is then peer reviewed before being accepted as canon. Working as a collaborative scheme, it manages to work as a series that is constantly shifting and evolving, taking the reader in continually new and exciting directions. The world itself is always growing as well, with new components being added all the time, as the reader explores it alongside the authors themselves. With the series of ‘The Paradisi Chronicles’, it manages to chart an ongoing science-fiction narrative that use themes that are relevant today. Using all sorts of different sources of inspiration, it draws from a whole well of different influences during the course of its entire run. Set in the last decades of the twenty-first century, it charts humanity’s exodus to the stars following the dwindling resources and environmental disasters occurring on Earth. Set up in 2025 by a number of wealthy individuals, they plan the ‘Paradisi Project’, which establishes an effort to explore space. Looking to inhabit the Moon and Mars, they work at creating something of lasting value that will benefit humanity in the long-run for good, with characters and scenarios growing from there, which they’ll continue to do so for some time to come.
