ABOUT LELAND P. GAMSONGrowing up three miles outside of Washington, D.C., Leland had a Huck Finn childhood with access to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, community land preserves, the Cabin John State Park and the Potomac River. He also was a bus ride away from the wonders of the nation’s capital. He made frequent use of the library making friends with Homer Price, Winnie-the-Pooh, and Snuffy the Tugboat. He was an Eagle Scout and started writing poetry at an early age.
