Kage Baker

Kage Baker was one of the noteworthy American authors, who was well known for writing fantasy and science fiction novels. She is particularly famous for writing the Company series. This series includes novels, novellas, and 2 collections of short stories. Author Baker had started her writing career in the year 1997 with the release of her debut book titled In the Garden of Iden. Author Baker was born on June 10, 1952, and died on January 31, 2010. Her birth had taken place in Hollywood, California. For most parts of her life, Baker lives in Hollywood and Pismo Beach. Before going on to establish herself as a professional novelist, she was involved in theater for many years. She was even involved in the teaching of Elizabethan English in the form of a 2nd language. The unusual first name of author Baker is combined from the names of her grandmothers, one of whom was named Kate and the other one as Genevieve. Author Baker is best remembered for writing historical science fiction books of travel, especially the Company novel series. The first stories written by Baker were released in the Science Fiction of Asimov in the year 1997. Her first novel was also released in the same year by Hodder and Stoughton publication. Among the other prominent works of author Baker is the novel, The Empress of Mars, which was awarded with the Thordore Sturgeon prize and was also nominated for the Hugo Award. In 2008, Baker gave away her archive as a donation to the Special Collections and Rare Books department of the University of Northern Illionois. During the following year, a novel and a short story that Baker had written received nominations for the World Fantasy Award. However, none of them were able to win the award.
