Jack Sheffield

Jack Sheffield is a renowned author from Britain, who is famous for writing historical, humor, and fiction novels. He is very well known for his Teacher series of novels. This popular series of his is also known by the name, the Jack Sheffield series. He has set the main character of the series based on his himself and has named him after himself, and so the name of the series. In his books, author Sheffield has described the story of a headmaster in a school located in a fictional village in Yorkshire. He has done the setting of the stories starting from the late seventies up to the early eighties. Along with telling the stories of headmaster Sheffield, the author has also tried to portray the life in Yorkshire at the time exactly as it was. Author Sheffield was born as Jack Linley in Leeds in the year 1945. He was brought up in Gipton Estate’s tough environment, located in the north-eastern region of Leeds. After completing his academic studies, the first job that author Sheffield took up was that of a pitch boy. His primary job was to carry buckets full of boiling bitumen and climb ladders to assist in the repair work of the roofs. During the 1960s, Sheffield underwent training at the St. John’s College in York to become a teacher. While he was undergoing the training in the art of teaching, Sheffield spent his summer days working as Corona Pop Man. His training in the field of teaching enabled author Sheffield to get a job as a head teacher of a couple of schools in the North Yorkshire in the late 70s and early 80s.
