Irving Stone was born on July 14, 1903 in San Francisco, California and died on August 26, 1989 of heart failure in Los Angeles. He was an American-born writer, known well for his classical biographical novels featuring eminent artists, statesmen and intellectuals. Some of the best sellers include: The Agony and the Ecstasy (1961), Lust for Life (1934), The President’s Lady (1951).
