E.C. Tubb / Gregory Kern

E.C. Tubb was a reputed British author of science fiction, western, and fantasy novels. He has penned more than 140 novels and over 230 short stories & novellas. Author Tubb is particularly famous for writing the Cap Kennedy series, The Dumarest Saga, and Space 1999 series. The Dumarest Saga is the one for which he is most well known. It is an epic SF saga that takes place in the far future. Several reviewers have said that Tubb’s reputation for colorful and fast-moving SF is not matched any other author in Britain. A lot of Tubb’s work have been released under different pen names. Some of them include Gregory Kern, Eric Storm, George Holt, Alan Guthrie, Mike Lantry, Edward Thomson, and Carl Maddox. In his career span of more than 5 decades, Tubb used a total of 58 pseudonyms. A few of the pen names used by him were house names of publishers and were used by other authors as well. These include Volsted Gridban, Gill Hunt, King Lang, Brian Shaw, and Roy Sheldon. The Charles Grey alias of Tubb was only his own and had gathered a large fan-following in the early 1950s.
