Debbie Dadey
Debbie Dadey is one of the noteworthy novelists of the books based on the fiction and children’s fantasy genres. She has written and co-authored a total of 162 novels in her writing career, all of which are based on the theme of children’s fiction. Debbie’s popular novel series include the Mermaid Tales, which is published by the Simon Schuster publishers. The most popular book series of author Debbie is The Bailey School Kids series. The Scholastic publication has released this series. Prior to the beginning of her writing career, Debbie used to work as a librarian and a teacher. Initially, she was a teacher of the first grade and then decided to have a change of career, eventually becoming a librarian. Debbie says that she always had the interest in writing her story for children. The reason that she gives for this is that she was fond of reading children’s books herself. It was during one of her teaching class that she realized she wanted a book written for the reluctant readers. This led her to write the debut novel of her career, Vampires Don’t Wear Polka Dots. In completing this book, Debbie had a collaborated with a fellow teacher and friend at her school, Marcia Thornton Jones. The two have said that the story described in the book was the outcome of an extremely bad day that they experienced while teaching. Debbie and Marcia often indulge in jokes after the success of the book, saying that if they had been vampires, the students would listen to them in attention. Since then, author Debbie has teamed up with Marcia Jones for writing over 125 books. Altogether, they have gone on to sell more than 47 million printed copies all over the world. Besides her collaboration with Marcia Thorton Jones, Debbie also writes independently. She has contributed with a few highly interesting books in her career. Debbie has stated that while creating the characters of her books, she used to enjoy a lot thinking like a young girl. While describing the characters like Echo, Pearl, Shelly, and Kiki, Debbie loved channelling the mermaid inside her and this made her go through a great time. She has depicted that the mermaid-girls deal with a number of issues related to kids, in each of her novels. The main characters are also shown learning different things related to the oceans in the school. Author Debbie was brought up in Kentucky, The United States. She has lived in various places throughout the country along with her family.
