Born in 1929, Dan Jenkins is an authoritative sports writer and a writer for Sports Illustrated- an American sports media franchise. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas. His parents divorced at quite a young age. He says that his mother lacked maternal instinct. The divorce and the nature of his mother left him at the mercy of relatives who brought him up. He attended R.L. Paschal High School. He proceeded to join Texas Christian University (TCU).
