Benjamin Pratt & the Keepers of the School

Andrew Clements was born in 1949 in New Jersey, and grew up in Oaklyn and Cherry Hill, before moving to Springfield, Illinois. Clements’s parents inspired him into writing, as they were avid readers and passed on the reading culture to Andrew and his siblings. Andrew graduated from Northwestern University majoring in literature. He worked for a small publishing house, and his initial writing was a how-to book titled. “A Country Christmas Treasury.” Andrew wrote his second book, Frindle, published in 1996, and it became more popular than any of his previous works. This small success turned him into a full-time writer. Over time, Andrew has learned to work under a restrictive environment where he only needs a small desk and chair, his laptop and a stove for the cold winters. He needs a lot of time and a tranquil place to think as he writes. No TV, no cell phone, and no email.
