Ann Patchett

Ann Patchett is one of the Faulkner/PEN Award winning, bestselling authors from America, who has written a number of successful books based on the historical fiction and literary fiction genres. She is particularly well known for the success of her novel titled Bel Canto. Author Ann was born on December 2, 1963 in Los Angeles, California, United States. In addition to winning the Faulkner Award in the year 2002, she has also won the Orange Prize in the same year. Both these prestigious awards were given to her for her successful novel, Bel Canto. Author Ann is the daughter of another popular novelist named Jeanne Ray. As a child, she attended the St. Bernard Academy. This is a Catholic private school for girls and is run by the ‘Sisters of Mercy’. After the completion of her graduation, she went on to join the Sarah Lawrence College. Later, author Ann enrolled herself at the Iowa Writers Workshop, at the Iowa University. She also got training in fine arts at the Fine Arts Center, located in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Author Ann has said that it was at this place that she wrote her debut novel titled The Patron Saint of Liars. In the year 2010, author Ann co-founded a bookstore called as the Parnassus Books, along with a friend named Karen Hayes. This bookstore was opened in the year 2011. In the year 2016, author Ann helped the bookstore branch out by means of a mobile bookmobile food truck, and eventually expanded it in Nashville. In the year 2012, author Ann was included in the list of the top 100 most influential people of the world in the TIME Magazine.
