The political organization PROTECT was founded by him and he serves as a national advisory board member in this organization. He is a native citizen of New York city. Vachss had many notable roles in the protection of child before becoming a lawyer. He was a social services caseworker of New York City and served in sexually transmitted disease as a federal investigator. Just before the fall of Biafra, he entered the war zone and worked in this country. The Nigerian government banned the Red Cross airlifts and blocked the seaports. Hence, his work was to find a way, or route to supply the medical supplies and foods across the border. However, there was an ultimate failure in all the attempts that lead to rampant starvation. At that time he suffered from malnutrition and malaria and treated it after he returned. Under Saul Alinsky in the year 1970, he studied community organizing. In Chicago for the urban migrants, a self-help center was run by him and he worked as a labor organizer. In Massachusetts, for the ex-convicts, a re-entry program was managed by Andrew Vachss and finally a maximum-security prison was directed by him to the people like juvenile offenders.
